This pressure fitting (valve) is an original component from Liberty Bell 7, which was recovered from the floor of the Atlantic Ocean on July 20, 1999, from a depth of 16,043 feet. It was removed during the restoration of the capsule conducted by the Kansas Cosmosphere. The valve could not be reinstalled because of the corroded condition of the component to which it was originally attached.
