This bolt was part of Discovery's #2 main engine (SSME) gimbal bearing, which acts as the thrust interface between the engine and orbiter. It could no longer be used because the bolt exceeded its torque cycle. It was removed in Feb. 1999 while Discovery was being serviced post-flight inside Kennedy Space Center's Orbital Processing Facility No. 1 (OPF-1). This bolt was one of eight that was in the engine.
