 0447. Flown Silver 32mm. Medallion
The medallion is engraved on the reverse with the dates March 3-13, 1969. These are the launch/landing dates of Apollo 9. Astronaut James McDivitt, as a gesture to the families of the Apollo 1 crew, flew one silver medallion per child (x6) and one gold medal per widow (x2) on this flight. These were presented to the families after the flight. This may be the first of these medallions ever offered for sale. the Ed White Estate collection
