Highlights of the Fall 1999 Superior Galleries' Space Memorabilia Auction
0349. Command Module Window Frame
A metal window frame with a thick white composite outer layer (1.5" thick - ablative ??). The inside of the window frame is engraved V16-321374 / SN 500-L008 / Date Feb 1965 / Inspectionand V16-321424-31 Assy / 8/N 06362-AAD 4628 / 5-25-65. The window is wider at the bottom than it is at the top. This appears to be an example of one of the two side windows on the capsule. The frame was obtained by the consignor's father who worked on the Apollo program in the early 1960s/70s. It does not appear to have been flown and doesn't contain glass. This is the first example we have seen.
