Soyuz MS-12 lands: Aleksey Ovchinin, Nick Hague and Hazzaa AlMansoori landed from the International Space Station on Thursday (Oct. 3). The Russian, American and Emirati crewmates touched down aboard Soyuz MS-12 on the steppe of Kazakhstan. For Ovchinin and Hague, it was the end of a 203 day mission. For AlMansoori, it was only eight days, but a first for the United Arab Emirates.

Astronaut Playmobil: Luca Parmitano's two new crewmates on orbit do not take up much space and they look a little like him. The first Playmobil figures on the International Space Station, the toys were created in Parmitano's likeness to promote an interest in spaceflight by children. A partnership between ESA, ASI and the Italian publisher of Playmobil Magazine, 25,000 of the Luca Parmitano figures are now for sale on newsstands in Italy.

Cradle of Astronauts: Thirteen of the space fliers who graduated from Purdue University, the "Cradle of Astronauts," will be honored at halftime on Saturday (Oct. 12), in a tribute to the Indiana school's space alum legacy. The Purdue Boilermakers will join in the Homecoming festivities with new spacesuit-inspired football helmets and patches.

Demo-2 mission patch: The first astronauts set to fly on board a SpaceX Dragon capsule now have a mission patch. Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken were spotted wearing the new Demo-2 test flight insignia on Thursday (Oct. 10) during a visit by NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine to SpaceX's headquarters in Hawthorne, California.

Planetary Congress: Space explorers from around the world have convened in Houston for the XXXII Planetary Congress. Described by the Association of Space Explorers as the "largest gathering of international astronauts in history," this year's Congress has the theme "Celebrating Apollo, Inspiring the Future" and features panels about the legacy and future of humanity's exploration of the moon.

Timex x NASA: NASA's legacy logotype has landed on the dial of a new Timex wristwatch in celebration of this year's 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. The Timex x NASA Navi watch features the U.S. space agency's retired logo (nicknamed the "worm") in a style similar to the custom timepieces the company made for the astronauts.

All-female EVA: The first "unmanned," or all women spacewalk made history Friday (Oct. 18) at the International Space Station. NASA astronauts Christina Koch and Jessica Meir, both Expedition 61 flight engineers, ventured outside the orbiting laboratory to replace a power controller that unexpectedly failed. The extravehicular activity or EVA used a spacesuit with a link to the first U.S. woman to walk in space, Kathryn Sullivan, 35 years ago this month.

Astrovan II: Continuing a legacy that can be traced back to the Apollo moon landings and early space shuttle program, Boeing debuted a new Airstream-built crew transport vehicle on Monday (Oct. 21). The Astrovan II will be used to drive astronauts to the launchpad for flights aboard Boeing's CST-100 Starliner spacecraft. The eight-seat van features a graphic wrap and blue and chrome stripes.

Artemis art: A new NASA graphic trades the pareidolic "man in the moon" for a woman on the moon. Presented by NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine on Wednesday (Oct. 23), the artwork features Artemis, the Greek goddess of the moon and namesake for the agency's lunar program, drawn "in the highlights and shadows of the crescent moon topography." NASA's Artemis program aims to land the first woman and next man on the lunar surface by 2024.

S.S. Alan Bean: Fifty years after he became the fourth person to walk on the moon, Alan Bean is being remembered with the naming of a Northrop Grumman Cygnus spacecraft. The Apollo 12 astronaut is the namesake for the company's 12th cargo capsule to deliver supplies to the International Space Station. The S.S. Alan Bean will launch on an Antares rocket from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility.
